A PROUD HISTORY

You'll pardon if much of this introduction is written in the first person, but as founder of A.C.N. Graphics, I felt this was the best way to introduce my firm and to give you a brief history. If I seem to be bragging at some point, well, this is not intentional, only that I'm very proud of the service we provide and the talented individuals who make it possible. PLUS, we all know it's hard not to brag when when talk of our families, and A.C.N. Graphics is definitely a family affair.

The idea for A.C.N. Graphics was born in the 1950's when yours truly, founder, was still in high school and working in a local print shop. I was working after school and on weekends, continuing an apprenticeship that had begun when I was age 10 or 11. Most of the printing in my area was done letterpress; offset printing was just starting to make inroads.

At this time that I was introduced to some of the commercial artists freelancing in the area. As a young boy, I had trouble understanding how they were artists -- to me artists painted pictures and made sculptures!

This thought only lasted a few years, as my grasp of the printing business grew. I realized that printing was only a small facet of the graphic arts industry.

At age 15 or 16, I conceived the idea -- which I believed to be totally unique -- of a printing firm that combined a design department as part of the operation.

Working as a typographer and printer after graduation from high school and continuing my studies in art and design, filled my years until 1971. Then, the idea became a reality. I purchased an old letterpress, which came with a ton or more of foundry type and a small offset press. Shortly thereafter I added a phototypesetter and A.C.N. Graphics was born.

The photo above has nothing to do with printing or graphics. However it does show the other side of the beautiful state of New Jersey, the Delaware River with Pennsylvania in the background.

We feel fortunate to live and work at the Jersey Shore, only a few miles from the wide Atlantic, and we're fortunate to service select accounts from many different areas of the state.

As artists and craftspeople, business at A.C.N. is conducted with a very casual mood. It's not unusual for yours truly, Alois Carl "Butch" Neuhaus, founder, to meet on business over coffee at a client's home, at the local convenience store, or even a fund-raising gala, black tie and all, although most clients know me as a very casual, blue-jeans kind guy.
WHAT WE OFFER TODAY
At A.C.N. our production capabilities dictate design. For quality and time control, we handle work in-house, except in very rare instances.

We live in a marvelous era. Advances in technology have been overwhelming, touching all segments of society. The graphic arts industry is no exception. A.C.N. not only welcomes the changes, but also thrives in the exhilarating atmosphere that surrounds the challenge of keeping up with the times.

Continuing acquisitions of new printing and finishing equipment and computer hardware and software enables us to offer our clients ever-expanding services.

ON-DEMAND MARKET

For the on-demand client, we offer short-run digital duplicating in one and two color as well as full-color direct-imaging reproduction. We also offer medium and large format digital sign printing. Colorful display signs for retail advertising, trade show displays, etc. are no longer a expensive luxury item, they are an affordable necessity.

With a growing world economy, new markets and opportunities are constantly emerging for many of our clients. We know many of these markets are speculative, and we are dedicated to be there, providing creative, quality and cost-effective printed materials as you step cautiously into unknown territory.

TRADITIONAL OFFSET PRINTING

Our ongoing investment in new equipment has made it possible for A.C.N. to continue offering a very competitive price structure. This is possible because at A.C.N.  the cost of equipment has never been passed on to our clients with increased prices. We offset the cost by savings in man hours, a policy which will continue through the years ahead.

BREAKING OUT THE OLD
IN THE NEW MILLENNIUM

With all our excitement for the new, we still value the old. We have reintroduced letterpress printing at A.C.N. The presses, dating back to the 1800s, are used mainly in production of our custom-designed, hand crafted invitations and note paper.
